Despaire and Shari

Subject: Despaire and Shari Tue Sep 01, 2009 7:42 pm

The two were just sitting by the pond near Despaire's house and are now heading home when they run into Despaire's most recent ex-boyfriend.

"And already you're in love with her?" Despaire was quiet, not wanting to reply. The blonde smiled and wrapped her arms around Despaire pulling him close to her chest.
"Oh sweetie," she whispered, stroking his hair. "How cute. Thank you." She completely ignored the man, not even giving him the time of day.

The black haired male blinked, his cheeks turning a bright red and he didn't know what to say.
"Unless you were already seeing her when we were together," the man said, watching Despaire suspiciously.
"I-"
"But then again, you were too weak and pathetic to do something like that. After all, I had you believing I loved you for so long," the man said with a smirk. It was suddenly as if someone had stabbed Despaire through the heart; again; he sobbed faintly, pressing a hand to his chest. He closed his eyes; he didn't know how much longer his heart would hold up to being hurt so often. "And, can't people die from broken hearts?" the man asked, taking little heed of Shari. "Maybe that's what'll kill you in the end."

The blonde woman looked over at the man dully. "Are you ignorant?" she grumbled. "People don't die from broken hearts. And Despaire is mine to love now. So kindly leave us as you are doing absolutely nothing but annoying us." She turned to Despaire and hugged him, taking his hand and walking away with him. "He doesn't deserve you," she whispered softly.

Despaire walked with her, not fully understanding what had just happened or what Shari had just said. He was quiet for a while, until they were out of sight of the man. "D-did you mean all that?" he whispered quietly, not looking up at her and keeping his eyes down on the ground.

"I did," the blonde female whispered. "every word I spoke was the truth. You need me, and I need you. We can take care of each other, if you want." She smiled down at him, her green eyes so warm and caring. "What do you say?" she asked.

Despaire looked up at her, watching her quietly. "But what about when Death is done with what she's doing?" he whispered and paused. "You won't be like them will you?" he asked, tears brimming in his eyes. Even though she had said that it wasn't possible for someone to die of a broken heart, unlike the races on Earth, it was highly possible for something like that to happen to him. His mother had died of a broken heart. And if one more person turned around and stabbed him in the back again, he knew he would be following his mother's footsteps.

Shari smiled faintly. "what about it?" she asked. "You never needed a babysitter. This was all a ploy for you to meet someone special, don't you see? And here I am."

Despaire stared at her, not fully understanding what she was meaning. What was all this about a ploy for him to meet someone special? She was just someone Death had pulled in off the street to look after him while she was out of the house. How could that be a ploy to get him with someone special? He didn't get it! "Oh," he whispered, bowing his head slightly.

Shari smiled at him. "She was looking for someone specific for you," she told him. "And she found me."

Despaire frowned. "She was?" he asked. He bowed his head slightly. "But won't you leave?" he whispered. "You, you want to find your brother, don't you?"

The female smiled faintly. "then it's a good thing I have wings, right?" she whispered softly. "I can search and stay with you."

"Y-you will?" the black haired male asked, watching her and trying to hide the hopefulness in his eyes.

Despaire chewed his lip. "I-I want you to stay with me," he whispered. "I-I don't want to be alone. I-I feel safe with you."

The blonde Spirit Entity smiled faintly. "Then I will stay," she whispered softly.

The black haired male blushed and nodded slightly, bowing his head timidly and tucking his hair behind his ear. "O-oh," he whispered. "Okay. Um, th-thank you. So much."

The blonde looked down at him silently, pausing faintly, her smile slipping. "Wait, why are you thanking me?" she asked, letting her confusion show in her face. "I'm not doing you a favour or anything, am I? I mean, I'm staying on my own free will, right?"

"No, I mean, yes, no, you, you are doing this of your own free will. You are. I-I, I was raised that whenever someone does something kind for you or to you, you thank them. And, and you're being so kind to me, so I-I wanted to thank you for being so kind." Shari could see a range of different emotions pass over Despaire's face before he put his hands over his mouth and shook his head. "I-I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said anything. P-pretend I didn't, okay? Please?"
